ASAP has compiled the following list of grants and loans available to farmers in the Southern Appalachian region. As we learn about new opportunities, we will be sure to add them. GRANT — Carolina Farm Credit: Corporate Mission Fund

Organizations may apply for up to $5,000 per year to help in their endeavors to further the future of agriculture and contribute to the agricultural economy in North Carolina. Read More ▶▶

GRANT — FACT: Fund-a-Farmer

Fund-A-Farmer is offering grants of up to $2,500 in March 2017 to working, independent, family farmers who raise pigs, broiler chickens, laying hens, turkeys, dairy cows and/or beef cattle The application deadline is November 21, 2016. Read More ▶▶

GRANT — NCDA&CS: Organic Cost Share Reimbursement Program

Farms that have successfully received their initial USDA organic certification from a USDA-accredited certifying agent or have incurred expenses related to the renewal of their USDA organic certification from a USDA-accredited certifying agent between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016 are eligible to receive reimbursements.Read More ▶▶

GRANT — RAFI: Agricultural Reinvestment Fund

The Agricultural Reinvestment Fund assists innovative and entrepreneurial farmers and collaborative farmer groups in developing new sources of agricultural income through the provision of cost-share grants.Read More ▶▶

GRANT — Southern SARE: On-Farm Research Grants

The Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) offers On-Farm Research Grants for Cooperative Extension, NRCS, university personnel, governmental and non-governmental organizations who currently work with farmers and ranchers and are interested in conducting on-farm research or marketing projects related to sustainable agriculture.Read More ▶▶

GRANT — Southern SARE: Producer Grant Program

The Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) offers Producer Grants for on-the-farm research and marketing projects that promote sustainable agriculture. Any producer or producer organization in the Southern region is eligible to apply for a Producer Grant.Read More ▶▶

GRANT — TDA: Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement Program (TAEP)

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) offers cost-share funds for Tennessee residents to make long-term investments in livestock and farming operations through its Tennessee Agriculture Enhancement Program (TAEP).Read More ▶▶

GRANT — TVA Energy For Farms Grants

Construction of renewable energy systems (wind, solar, renewable biomass, micro-hydro, geothermal) or energy efficiency improvements that will benefit an agricultural production facility. 75% cost-share with a max award of $6,000. Designed to support small projects and welcoming of innovative projects that other grant streams may overlook.Read More ▶▶

GRANT — USDA NIFA: Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program

The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program makes competitively awarded grants to qualified small businesses to support high quality, advanced concepts research related to important scientific problems and opportunities in agriculture that could lead to significant public benefit if successful.Read More ▶▶
