Networking and Mentorship

Sometimes the best way to learn about a career you’re thinking of pursuing is to learn from those who have already traveled the path. There are many opportunities in our region to develop meaningful relationships with skilled farmers. Avoid common pitfalls and mistakes by studying with those who’ve already made them.

  • ASAP’s Business of Farming Conference is a great place for networking with experienced farmers, as well as with other beginning farmers and regional food buyers and business owners.
  • CRAFT: The Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) is a program offered by Organic Growers School that brings established farmers, farm apprentices, and agriculture students together for a training program consisting of farm/intern matching and monthly on-farm workshops.
  • CABA: Community Agri-Business Alliance is a program offered by Mountain BizWorks. Members of the alliance support each other and build connections with the broader business community.
  • WNC Young Farmers Coalition: WNC Young Farmers aims to connect and empower young farmers in Western North Carolina.
