SUMMARY:Growing Culinary Herbs Successfully on Your Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join Extension professionals and growers to learn more about commercially growing culinary herbs for market. The workshop is two days*. Day 1 (8/8 3pm) will be by zoom and Day 2 (8/9 3pm) we will visit a successful herb grower’s farm. Herbs are valuable for culinary\, cosmetic\, medicinal\, and ornamental products\, offering a world of possibilities to sell locally and regionally. They can be sold as live plants all season long\, sold freshly cut for culinary use\, made into herbal bouquets\, teas\, used in fermentation or dried and used in herbal crafts. \n*It isn’t necessary to attend both events. Registering will ensure you a spot on the farm tour as we are limiting that number. Once the registration is full for the event we will open to zoom participants only. You can let us know your preference during the registration process. If you need a scholarship to attend just let us know by email.

DESCRIPTION:Canning is the perfect way to preserve the flavor of your favorite foods at their freshest so you can enjoy them all year long. However\, if you’re new to canning\, it can be quite overwhelming. In our Canning Basics class\, we’ll discuss the water-bath canning process in detail; you’ll even get some hands-on practice to perfect your technique! We’ll also cover the necessary equipment and ingredients to help you create a fruit jam that is safe and delicious. To top it off\, you’ll leave with the fruits of your labor! \nThis is a two day course offered by NC BioNetwork. Day 1 (8/8) will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm\, Day 2 (8/9) will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
