SUMMARY:Organic Crop Management Series. Session 2: Managing Pests Organically
DESCRIPTION:Organic Crop Management is a FREE webinar series led by local farmers and agricultural resource specialists. Growers will gain the tools to manage soil health\, weeds\, pests and diseases for the whole farm. Participants will also gain insight into considerations for Organic Certification. Each session will center around direct experience in the field from organic growers of different scales. \nIn this online workshop\, you will gain an ecological understanding of pests including their biology\, how to sample for pests and beneficial insects\, and their relationship to soil and nutrient management. You will also learn management strategies that are commonly used to prevent pest damage\, promote beneficials\, and be equipped to develop a plan to manage pest outbreaks effectively on your farm. Tom Elmore will share his 30+ years experience\, highlighting the pest management practices that have worked for Thatchmore Farm.
