Farm to Fork in the Garden features many of the Charlotte area’s best-known farmers and chefs paired together to create delicious bite-sized dishes highlighting the bounty of the season. The Picnic also features local food artisans and beverage producers\, plus live music and fun activities for the whole family. \nThe Farm to Fork Picnic is not just delicious\, it is also a fundraiser for agriculture and food system training programs at the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) and farmer grants at Piedmont Culinary Guild.

This training is open to rural nonprofits\, community groups\, and faith-based organizations located in North Carolina. \nHelping organizations navigate and engage with local government is crucial for community development and growth. Therefore\, we’re excited about our agenda which includes hands-on activities\, resource sharing\, and peer presentations. \nWe are committed to making sure that our workshops are accessible and comfortable to participants. This training is FREE and we are providing AM snacks\, lunch\, and a mileage allowance. We’ll host the workshop twice\, once in Western\, NC\, and once in Eastern\, NC. Mileage will be paid from the workshop closest to where you live.

They devised a system drawing from the traditions of Korean natural farming\, biodynamics\, and permaculture. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn what they do and how to prepare your garden this autumn for a productive spring. The workshop is Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. A tour of Earthaven Ecovillage is available Saturday morning\, along with camping and Dances of Universal Peace on Saturday evening.

SUMMARY:A Day on the Homestead
DESCRIPTION:This October\, join three Polk County homesteading families for an educational\, entertaining and edible homestead tour where you can see a variety of homesteads of different sizes\, uses and goals. Starting at 9:00 am and ending at 4:00pm on October 14\, you can tour the homesteads with their operators. At three specific times\, throughout the day\, you will be able to see skill demonstrations including sheep hoof trimming\, goat milking\, feeding livestock\, fence repairs\, preserving the harvest\, mushroom log inoculation\, and much more. \nTo catch all three\, there are specific tours at each farm 9:30\, 12:30 and 2:30 along with a skill demonstration\, you can design your own tour and catch all three or just one! Each homestead will have a display of what they grow and produce on their land. Once tickets are purchased\, addresses of the farms will be shared via email to ticketholders 2-3 days in advance.
