We are growing food sustainably in a beautiful valley on a family farm in Fairview. Our farming practices rely on cover cropping, amending the soil carefully, crop rotation, using OMRI approved products and planning for insect and weed issues. We value our personal relationship with our customers through the tailgate markets and our CSA.

Our mission is to connect sustainable agriculture practices, our family history, and our customers by sharing the family farm experience and serving as an example of healthy land stewardship while providing high quality ethically raised meats. Just a short, scenic 20 minute drive from Asheville, NC and 30 minutes from Black Mountain, the Farm Store is a great way to see first hand the landscape where your food is grown and to meet the people who make it happen. At Hickory Nut Gap Farm you will find animals raised in their natural environment. Pigs outdoors, cows on pasture eating grass and clover, multiple species grazing together, drinking fresh spring water and living the good life. We offer grassfed beef and pastured pork, free range eggs and have pastured poultry available seasonally. You’ll find many local food treasures such as Lusty Monk Mustard, Fire on the Mountain’s BBQ sauce, Looking Glass Creamery Cheese, Haw Creek Honey and Imladris Farm Jam. Discover the craft of Maria Pritchard’s jewelry and Farmer Jane’s goat milk soap among other local pottery and handmade crafts! Come see for yourself the food and crafts from our area. Pick up a few gifts, treat yourself to some breakfast sausage and don’t forget your camera. In our HNG Kitchen we serve lunch 7 days a week. In the winter months, we offer a full lunch menu on Fridays and Saturdays, and a panini of the day on Monday-Thursday. We offer Sunday brunch from 10-4. In March – November, we offer our full lunch menu 7 days a week from 11-4pm. We are also offering kitchen and butchery classes, as well as event catering and event site hosting.
