Who Is Eligible?
Farmers – Individual or entity directly engaged in agricultural production who file a Schedule F or Schedule C reporting farm income. Former and current tobacco growers given preference, but all farmers encouraged to apply.
What Activities Are Eligible?
Construction of renewable energy systems (wind, solar, renewable biomass, micro-hydro, geothermal) or energy efficiency improvements(including greenhouse glazing and insulation upgrades and efficient heating systems) that will benefit an agricultural production facility. Residences cannot be tied to projects. Technologies must be commercially available and feasible. Grants can only go toward post-application purchases/installations.
Applicants may qualify for a grant of 25% of eligible project costs, limited to the grant maximums.
Minimum grant: $500 ($2,000 in project costs)
Maximum grant: $7,000 (applied toward the first $28,000 in project costs)
