Donate to ASAP

Thank you! Your contributions are critical for all ASAP’s work. A farmer recently told us “I love growing – being outdoors, producing food for people, being near plants all day. I love knowing my customers by being at the market every week, being able to take their requests, give a discount to someone struggling, and talk to them about farming. It all gives me hope and keeps me farming year after year.”

You aid us in building vital connections that help local farms thrive. You help us link farmers to markets and supporters. You are the key ingredient in building healthy communities through connections to local food.

A donation to ASAP allows us to be responsive to evolving community needs as they arise.

Ways to Give

Make a Gift Today

Your gift keeps farmers farming. You help in building a farm to school movement and supporting educators. You are the key ingredient in building healthy communities through connections to local food. A gift today will create a better future for Appalachian farms and communities.

To make your gift today, use the secure donation form or donate by mail to: ASAP, 306 West Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801. Please contact Nora Scheff at 828-236-1282 or nscheff@asapconnections.org if you have any questions. Explore ways to give above.

Monthly Gift

You can set it, forget it, and we take care of the rest. A monthly gift is a bedrock gift for ASAP and positively impacts every mission-focused program we run year round. Monthly giving helps ASAP stay prepared year-round and be nimble when new, emerging needs arise. Choose the recurring option in the donation form for weekly, monthly, or quarterly giving.

Sponsorship and Corporate Support

ASAP works with companies through strategic partnerships, corporate grants, workplace giving, and employee engagement. We strive to create opportunities that connect you and your workplace to meaningful and authentic food and farm experiences.

Your business can sponsor ASAP’s Farm Tour, Business of Farming Conference, and/or the weekly Asheville City Market. Find out more about sponsorship to see which event aligns with your marketing goals and contact Nora Scheff, Development Director at nscheff@asapconnections.org or 828.236.1282.

Matching Gift

Increase the impact of your gift by utilizing your company’s matching gift program. Contact your company’s HR representative to see if they have a matching gift option.

Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Fund Support

You can keep farmers farming in many ways, including a gift through stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.  A gift of stock may provide you more benefits than a cash gift and yield double tax benefits and additional savings. When you make a gift of stock to ASAP, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting ASAP’s mission.

To make a contribution, consult with your financial advisor to begin the transfer process.

IRA Gifts

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD), also known as an IRA Charitable Rollover, is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to an organization like ASAP. Since the gift goes directly to ASAP without passing through your hands, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $111,000 annually, with some exceptions.

QCDs can be made by IRA owners who are age 70 1/2 or older. If you are required to take money from your IRA, but do not need it for living expenses, you can make a QCD to support the work of ASAP! Your QCD must be made directly from your IRA custodian to the ASAP on your behalf. Each financial institution has its own process for initiating a QCD.

Legacy Support

Please consider making a legacy gift to ASAP. ASAP can be named as the beneficiary of a specific amount of your estate or of specific assets. This way of estate planning can make a lasting statement to the causes you care most about. Have you already arranged for a bequest or other planned gift to ASAP? Let us know by contacting ASAP’s Development Director, Nora Scheff at nscheff@asapconnections.org or 828.236.1282.

In-Kind Support

Gifts of time, food, earned media, and more are very meaningful to ASAP. An in-kind gift can help us bring costs down, and connect you to our mission.

Donor Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable investment account that is set up for the purpose of supporting charities. You can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets into the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. Those funds are invested for tax-free growth and then you can recommend donations to charities like ASAP!

To establish the fund, you can make a tax-deductible contribution (cash, stock, real estate, etc.) to a sponsoring organization, community foundation, or financial institution. The sponsoring organization oversees those funds as they grow tax free and you hold advisory privileges over disbursements made. As an account holder, you can recommend single or recurring donations to charitable organizations. Once the DAF sponsoring organization approves, the recommended donation is made to the qualified charitable organization, such as ASAP.

Donations are tax deductible. ASAP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 06-1642769). Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Financial information about this organization and a copy of its charitable solicitation license are available from the NC State Solicitation Licensing Branch at (919) 807-2214. The license is not an endorsement by the state.
