NATM Assistant Director, Marketing (Part-time employee)

Pay & Hours

Pay: $20.00/hours

Hours:
Main Season (33 weeks, April through mid-November) – 11.75 hours/week
6.75 hrs/wk on Saturday mornings for market, setup, and breakdown, 6:30am-12:30pm
5 hrs/wk on marketing

Winter Season/Holiday Bazaar (17 weeks, late November through March) – 10.75 hours/week

Job Description

The Assistant Director, Marketing supports day-of market operations and manages NATM’s social media presence and weekly newsletter. Candidates must display attention to detail, compassionate (but sometimes firm/boundaried) customer care, strong skills using social media and content management programs such as Instagram and Canva, and an excitement for local foods and goods.

Responsibilities

Market Responsibilities

  • Collect photographs and videos that can be used for social media, newsletter, and other marketing purposes, and post to Instagram during market
  • Punctual market set-up and break-down
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and staff, help run and oversee the market information booth, which includes dispensing NATM $5 and EBT/SNAP tokens, selling merchandise, answering customer questions, fielding complaints/feedback, troubleshooting issues, and keeping the booth tidy and organized
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, help vendors find their booth locations and support any needs they might have
  • Support customer parking needs
  • Help uphold any rules and regulations with customers, particularly dogs

Marketing Responsibilities

  • Update the weekly newsletter in partnership with the Executive Director via MailChimp
  • Plan a monthly social media calendar that is reviewed and approved by the Executive Director
  • 1 weekly Instagram post outside market hours
  • Respond to Instagram/Facebook messages/comments in a timely manner throughout the week
  • Update the Instagram and Facebook profiles seasonally to reflect logistics updates
  • Repost vendor and community partner content throughout the week to stories
  • Contribute to non-social marketing responsibilities upon request by the Executive Director, which may lead to additional hours
  • Have an annual review of marketing work with the Executive Director to determine strengths, growth areas, and brainstorming ideas
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to make NATM more accessible, inclusive, and equitable
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Experiences:

  • Basic skills in Facebook, Instagram, Canva, and other social media/content management platforms
  • Basic skills in using Google Suite, including Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and GMail
  • Proactive communication with professional colleagues
  • Attention to detail in record keeping
  • An organized approach to work
  • Compassionate, yet firm and boundaried (as needed) communication with customers
  • Some knowledge of produce, value added goods, and area businesses
  • Experience working at farmers markets as either staff or vendors
  • Desires for a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in regards to outreach and decision making processes

Accessibility

  • Must have a reliable vehicle or otherwise ability to get to the market each Saturday
  • Must have reliable access to a computer, internet, and a smart-phone
  • Must be able to be present on social media throughout the week
  • Must be able to be on a screen for long durations of time
  • Job details include a lot of walking, lifting of signs and other market supplies (up to 50 lbs), and a slightly sloped parking lot with stairs
  • NATM is held in all weather conditions. The market booth is covered but staff are exposed to the elements and insects throughout all seasons.
