Farm Assistant – Mushroom Production (Beginner Friendly)

Farm Assistant – Mushroom Production (Beginner Friendly)
$18 $20
We’re looking for a reliable, beginner-level farm assistant to join us one day a week (Fridays) on our mushroom farm in Marshall, NC.
This is hands-on production work—both indoors and outdoors—and an opportunity to build real skills in mushroom cultivation through consistent practice.
You’ll be responsible for key steps in the growing process, so attention to detail and follow-through matter.

The Work Includes:

  • Preparing and handling substrates (straw, sawdust, logs)
  • Inoculating and maintaining mushroom growing systems
  • Supporting indoor grow room operations
  • Outdoor cultivation and seasonal tasks
  • Keeping workspaces clean and processes consistent

This Role Is a Good Fit If You:

  • Are comfortable working alone for most of the day
  • Want to learn mushroom cultivation from the ground up
  • Take pride in doing careful, repeatable work well
  • Are open to feedback and willing to improve your technique
  • Are reliable, punctual, and communicate clearly when something needs attention

Logistics:

  • Fridays, ~8 hours (1 day/week)
  • $18–20/hour depending on experience
  • Located in Marshall, NC (must have your own transportation)
  • Opportunity for additional hours if it’s a good fit
This is a good role for someone at the beginning of their path who wants to gain practical, real-world experience in growing mushrooms—not just learn about it.
If you’re interested, please reach out with a short note about your background, availability, and why this work interests you.
