Program and Communications Assistant

Program and Communications Assistant

The North Carolina Farmers Market Network (NCFMN) seeks applications for a part-time Program and Communications Assistant.

The mission of the NCFMN is to work with and for farmers market communities to create a thriving network of marketplaces for local food and farm products through education, innovative services, programs and partnerships, including providing resources to support historically underserved populations.

The NCFMN is just coming out of its inaugural year. During the pandemic, organizations outside of farmers markets helped coordinate weekly calls for market managers to discuss the rapidly changing status and regulations we were required to navigate. This support and camaraderie was recognized as essential as the farmers markets themselves had developed into a new state
association of farmers markets. In 2022 we received a grant from the USDA to build the NCFMN’s capacity, including to staff a Program Coordinator and Marketing Contractor. In 2023 we were able to establish a marketing framework with an initial set of promotional and informational materials along with branding for the organization.

In 2024, we are looking to expand on the work that has already been done as well as complete a few specific projects. We are seeking a person who is highly organized with demonstrated familiarity with NC farmers markets, food system work, and/or nonprofits preferred.
