Keeping, Using, and Doctoring Small Animals in a Foodforest
June 17, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Here at Phat Ninja Foodforest we have kept ducks and chickens free ranging for over a decade now. In that time we have learned many lessons. All of the animals are part of the permaculture process – ducks, chickens, the fish in the pond, snakes, birds, ground hogs…..all are such an integral part of a a permaculture mindset and a real joy to observe and interact with.
In this class we will talk about the differences and similarities of raising ducks vs. chickens and how each is used most efficiently. We will discuss the benefits beyond eggs, egg laying issues, sick chickens/ducks, how we doctor them, signs to catch problems early, raising young, hatching fertile eggs, housing set up, required permits, what to do as they pass their prime egg laying years (henopause), and much more
Saturday 6/17/23, 10 am until 12 noon at Phat Ninja Foodforest. We are located at 43 Bull Mountain Road. Asheville, NC 28805. There is a $20 fee for the class and tour, due at the start of class. We accept cash, Paypal, Venmo, and Cashapp. Parking is available at the Mennonite Church next door. Can’t wait to see you here!
