Restoring the Farm: From the Ground Up

Join the Center for Working Lands at Warren Wilson College, North Carolina State University and North Carolina Cooperative Extension for the first in a series of applied, field-based events focused on restoring and adding resilience to WNC farms impacted by Hurricane Helene. This kick off event brings together experts in soil restoration, soil ecology, soil amendments and food safety. Workshops will provide important and useful information for farmers, landowners and anyone interested in post-flood soil impacts and mitigation.
Topics include:
– Soil microbiome health for flood-impacted soils. Dr. Mallory Choudior
– Water quality and food safety considerations. Elena Rogers
– Best practices for mitigating impacts of flood deposits. Dr. Ekrem Ozlu
– Demonstration of “Ring of Fire” and “Oregon” biochar systems
