The new year is upon us and a whole year of delicious local food is ahead! Start the year off at Asheville-area indoor winter farmers markets this Saturday, January 7.
What can you expect to find this weekend? Roots and storage crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, kholrabi, winter squash, cabbage, apples, and turnips. Greenhouse and/or tunnel grown crops such as dark leafy greens, salad mixes, lettuces, and radishes. And, meats, eggs, breads, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts, and more!
On January 7, Asheville City Market opens for the winter at their indoor location, the Asheville Masonic Temple, in downtown Asheville. Many vendors from the North Asheville Tailgate Market can be found at the YMCA Indoor Winter Market, beginning January 7, in the fellowship hall of Crosspoint Community Church. The YMCA has also begun a South market this year, also beginning this weekend in the YMCA at Mission Pardee Health Campus in Arden.
