As the seasons are shifting towards cooler nights and shorter days, and the leaves are starting to change, it is the time of year to cozy up with warming ginger tea or hot apple cider to celebrate the fall harvest and prepare for the winter. Apples, pumpkins, ginger, turmeric, winter squash and sweet potatoes are among some fall favorites that you can find throughout our region, providing just the right combination of flavors, and inspiration for so many delightful and nourishing meals.
This recipe comes from Molly Nicholie, Local Food Campaign Director (who got it from Charlie Jackson, Executive Director).
2014 is almost over and next week is your last chance to shop at area farmers tailgate markets before the new year. Novel, exquisitely beautiful, and often delicious discoveries are abundant! There is so much to explore at this time of the year: winter produce, meats, cheeses, cookies, artwork, jewelry and more.
Outdoor markets will be opening in a few weeks, but there’s still plenty to find at winter farmers tailgate markets!
